family

I wanted to do one last sketch for #sketchtober

Here's another really rough sketch of a cute little family. Like I said, its very rough, so the proportions are odd and there's still a lot of guess-lining. Especially the wrists. Just look at the wrists. AGH THE WRISTS.

I honestly don't have much to say about this one. I felt rather impersonal when I was drawing it so there's nothing too meaningful in it. Just a young family with a fairly balanced distribution of genetic traits, the little girl having her mom's blonde hair and her dad's dark eyes, and the baby having dark hair like its dad. I don't know if I'll ever finish this one, I'm not really feeling it.

You know when an artist makes something phenomenal? Well for every phenomenal piece there's probably about forty half-done sketches that they just weren't really feeling the heart for.

I'd like this blog to be something that lets people see the not so perfect side of artists, where they make messes, where they don't always like what they make, and maybe some looks at the unfinished products. That has been in a way encouraging to me as an aspiring artist, because it shows that even my artistic heroes have their off days - they just usually go unpublished.

I hope you enjoyed your October. Mine was full of activity that seemed to happen long ago, but still the month was over in a snap.

be bold. make messes.
