"Castle and Britney"

So. Adorable. AUGH.

These are my products from late nights. It always amazes me that things like this can come from a pencil. A PENCIL. a skinny wood thing with graphite inside and rubber at the top.
For color I used crayons, my favorites.

paint

I like painting objects. I like finding objects or buying them or salvaging them from being thrown away, and then painting them.

When I was little I used to paint rocks, and bird houses, and acorns, and the shells of garden snails.

I still often do that nowadays (but there aren't any garden snails where I live now,) but mainly I paint old objects.

For instance...

I have taken hubcaps off the side of the highway. I've purchased old cord phones at thrift stores. I've even saved a dusty old computer keyboard. All of these so I could paint them in cool colorful ways.

Aside from painting these sort of things, I have also painted the legs of my art table, the underside of one of my drawers, and went on a hand-printing frenzy with my cousin inside my closet. It's like a cave from Brother Bear in there now.

I have an old typewriter. It is manual, and mint colored, and makes that pleasant little "ding!" sound when you reach the edge of the page.

I don't plan on painting that. But I do have a piano that most of my family dislikes. When I move out I might take it with me, and go on the biggest funnest painting craze all over it when its fully mine.

I think when I have my own place, I'll design a room with completely white furniture, white walls, white floors, and a white ceiling. Then I'll buy tons of different paint colors. Then I'll bring a bunch of friends over and tell them to wear clothes they don't care about. Then all day we'll just go crazy in there, painting and splattering and having a colorful blast all over everything.

On a smaller scale, you can get an amazing variety of paint colors at walmart, in those little bottles they sell for at cheapest 50 cents each.

Don't just paint things. Paint ON things. It's fun you should try it.

Seagull: It's a song, actually

Seagulls are never lost at sea;
That's where they belong.
I knew right from the start you'd be a seagull
(As soon as your wings got big and strong.)

Yeah I knew you'd want to fly
With that raspberry sky
And that you’d hardly stay to say goodbye....
but that's alright...

They tell me that they're sorry for me;
So sorry that I lost you at sea.
But I know better, (I'm not a fool)
You’re not lost at all,

Because you're a seagull.

End. (By me, A.K. Huie)

This seems to belong better in 12inchesinafoot. Maybe I'll put it there too.

For now, revel in your own majesty, but don't let that stop you from making a maniacal mess! Be the bloody red queen of whatever it is you do best.

"Wendell"

Medium is pencil and maroon Crayola crayon.
Isn't he just great? :)

Wave hello to random people wherever you go today. If you can get three smiles you are a champ.

'Shelby'

Humans are beautiful creatures. So unique individually in ways of personality, style and physique. I visited a church a little while ago and just had to get this girl down on paper.

Like most people I draw, I never actually went up to meet her (once you meet and talk to the person, you see them in a different way, so its harder to draw them objectively [by what you merely see] )
So, since I didn't get up close, here's what I got from just observing.

Dunkin' Donuts and Taco Bell

A peculiarly wide gait for someone of her size (about 4' 11" I'd say)

She plays bass for the church, on a dark green bass guitar

She also helps take down the stage after the service

Bored? Make the most random collage possible out of magazine, newspaper, and old book clippings. But don't stop there! Also glue on small random objects that you find outside or in your house, or lying on the floor of a grocery store.

Stay majestic!
